Wilt Chamberlain scores 100 points in an NBA game in Hershey, PA

There are records in sports that everyone knows: Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hit streak, Cal Ripken Jr’s consecutive games played streak, Usain Bolt’s 100 meter record race.   And then there is Wilt the Stilt, who did something in an NBA basketball game that continues to get talked about decades later.

It was on this day, March 2nd, 1962, that Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in an NBA game.  The legendary performance occurred in Hershey, Pennsylvania in a win for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks.

Unfortunately for sports fans, there is not video footage from the game.  There is, however, the live radio broadcast of the 4th quarter of the game.  In that broadcast, you can hear the excitement of the crowd when Wilt scores basket after basket down the stretch of the game.  There were slightly over 4,000 fans in attendance that night, but anyone who was there witnessed a historical event that many sports fans still talk about to this day.
