The eclectic Spin magazine covering college rock and indie music has its first publication

It began as a magazine based on music that adolescents would enjoy, but it grew into something bigger than that. Spin magazine focused on the genre of rock music and then expanded to include Hip-Hop.

On March 19th 1985, the eclectic Spin magazine covering college rock and indie music had its first publication. The magazine seemed to show a lot of promise when it came out, but during that time some of their choices were controversial. Their covers consisted of musicians that were relevant during the time. As for Hip-Hop, it was still a growing genre during that time, and putting an African-American on the cover could have stirred up some commotion. Nevertheless the magazine did just that.

Spin magazine is still currently one of the leading music magazines around.
