Willis Reed Limps onto the court for game 7 of the NBA finals and helps lead the Knicks to victory.

When an NBA player overcomes an injury to do something miraculous, it can be a very special moment.  And in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA finals, one player wasn’t going to let an injury get in between himself and the title.

It was on this day, May 8th, 1970, that Willis Reed limped on the court for the Knicks in game 7 of the NBA finals. It was expected that Reed’s injury was going to prevent him from played, but during warm-ups, Reed limped onto the court in a memorable moment.

Reed only scored two baskets in the game, but his presence clearly inspired the entire Madison Square Garden Arena.  The Knicks took control of the game early on and never looked back, as they cruised to a 113 – 99 victory and New York City celebrated its world champion New York Knicks.
