Classified documents about the War in Afghanistan are published on Wikileaks

On this day, July 25th, in 2010, what came to be known as the Afghan War documents leak too place. The Afghan War documents leak is the disclosure of a collection of internal US military logs regarding the War in Afghanistan. These files were published on Wikileaks despite having been classified Secret. The logs were consisted of 91,731 documents that covered the course of time between January 2004 and December 2009. It has been reported that 75,000 of these documents were released and Wikileaks has made these logs available to large publishing companies, such as The New York Times and The Guardian.
The documents revealed information on the deaths of civilians, increased Taliban attacks, and involvement by Pakistan and Iran in the insurgency. This leak is considered one of the largest in U.S. military history.
