Wayne Gretzky becomes the 1st Ranger to get 2 Hat Tricks in a Single Playoff Year

Wayne Gretzky came to the New York Rangers at the end of his career.  He played in New York for 3 seasons and he helped the New York Rangers reach the Eastern Conference Finals in his final NHL season.

It was on this day, May 18th, 1997, that Wayne Gretzky scored his second hat trick of the 1997 NHL playoffs.  Wayne became the first player in New York Rangers history to record 2 hat tricks in a single season.

Wayne gave the city of New York an exciting finish to his NHL career.  The great one is still considered the greatest NHL player ever.  He holds several NHL records, and the way he did it and the type of person that he was has only added to his legend and legacy.
