Vinnie Johnson, AKA the Microwave, sinks jumper with .7 seconds left: Detroit beats Portland

Vinnie Johnson was called the Microwave because he would got hot very quickly.  And when he was hot, he was one of the most deadly shooters in the NBA..

It was on this day, June 14th, 1990, that Vinnie Johnson sunk a jump shot with .7 seconds left to give the Detroit Pistons the NBA title.  With the score tied at 90 in game 5, Johnson hit a 15 foot shot over Jerome Kersey to give the Pistons the 92- 90 lead.

The Blazers had led 76 – 68 with under ten minutes left.  But The Microwave went on a personal 9 – 0 run to give the Pistons the lead in the 4th quarter. The game then see-sawed back and forth until Johnson hit the game winner in the final second.
