The great Venus Williams defeats Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-1 to win her fourth Wimbledon title

Venus Williams dominated Tennis alongside her sister Serena. However, after she won her third Wimbledon title in 2005, she lost some of her allure, and her ranking had slipped all the way down to 23.  However, Venus was a fierce competitor, who always had to be scene as a serious threat by her opponents.

It was on this day, July 7th, 2007, that Venus WIlliams won her 4th Wimbledon title.  Venus shocked the Tennis community as none of the experts had predicted she would win before the tournament begun.  Venus won in convincing fashion, defeating Marion Bartoli 6-4, 6-1 in the finals.

It was the first time ever that an American and Frenchwoman met in the Wimbledon finals.  Despite the loss in the finals, it was also an impressive tournament for Marion Bartoli.  She had never before reached the finals of a grand slam tournament, but unfortunately she would never reach another again.
