The Opening Ceremony is held for the Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada.

One of the most prideful moments in any country’s history is when they have the opportunity to host The Olympic Games.  The eyes of the world are focused on the country for 17 days.  Anyone living in the country fortunate enough to play in the games competes on behalf of the host country on their own soil.

It was on the this day, February 12th, 2010, that Vancouver had the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympic Games.  It was the 21st Winter Olympics and the first time they were ever held in Vancouver. Canada had previously hosted the Winter Olympics twice, once in Montreal and another time in Calgary.

The Olympics turned out to be fantastic for Canada, as they became the first host nation to win the most Gold medals in the Olympics in over 50 years.  The local businesses and vendors benefited tremendously as Vancouver was front and center for two and half weeks in February of 2010.
