TV guide circulates its 2,000th edition.

Even with the ease of Internet searches, the TV Guide publication continues to draw a strong readership. The weekly American magazine has stayed fresh by incorporating celebrity interviews, film reviews, and gossip columns alongside its traditional TV listings.

It was on this day, July 27th, in 1991 that TV Guide circulated its 2,000th edition. The brand has since expanded from print publishing to include online and television content as well.

When United Video Satellite Group acquired the TV Guide brand in 1998, the company reworked its structure to retain viewers despite the reduced demand for print TV listings. Programs on the show previously only lasted 30 seconds and only appeared once or twice per hour.  Now, full-length shows make up the majority of the programming with TV listings simply scrolling at the bottom of the screen.
