Pixar’s Toy Story, is released; first feature length computer generated film

Toy Story was Pixar’s first feature film and was released by Walt Disney Pictures.  Directed by John Lasseter, it featured the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, and its executive producer was the late, great Steve Jobs.  The movie is centered around the character Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll and the astronaut action figure, Buzz Lightyear.  The toys come to life whenever they are amongst each other only but pretend to be lifeless when around humans.

It was on this day, November 22, 1995, that Pixar’s Toy Story, was released, the first feature length computer generated film.  It was the top-grossing film on its opening weekend and continued to earn over $191 million in the United States and Canada and more than $361 million worldwide.  It has been seen as one of the greatest and most revolutionary films in the history of animation continued with the sequels Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3.
