Tom Brokaw hosted his last night of NBC’s “Nightly News.”

Tom Brokaw, American television journalist and author, is best known as anchor and managing editor of NBC’s “Nightly News.” He began co-anchoring with Roger Mudd in Washington on April 5, 1982. Brokaw served as the White House correspondent and had the opportunity to cover the Watergate Scandal.  After a year, he was seen as better suited for a sole anchor position.

On this day, December 1, in 2004, after 23 years at his anchor desk, Tom Brokaw closed his final broadcast.  He told his 5.7 million viewers on NBC, ‘That’s “Nightly News’ for this Wednesday night. I’m Tom Brokaw.  You’ll see Brian Williams here tomorrow night; and I’ll see you along the way.”
