Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, passes Star Wars to become the highest grossing film in North American box offices

As the ship sank they said their final words as they parted. The ship was no match for the iceberg that it hit, but the movie profits definitely did not sink. Titanic skyrocketed in the box office and made a ridiculous amount of money in such a brief amount of time. Many would be content with their fill grossing a good amount of money, but Titanic went above and beyond that.

On March 15th 1998, the film Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, passed Star Wars to become the highest grossing film in North American box offices. The film was nominated for over 10 academy awards, so it is no wonder that it passed Star Wars.

Not only did the film surpass Star Wars in highest grossing film, but it was also the first film to make more than $1 billion worldwide. Titanic will always be a classic film and its awards will be there to back it up.
