Ron Wood joins the Rolling Stones

Ronnie Wood is an English rock guitarist and bassist, famous for being a member of The Jeff Beck Group, The Faces, and The Rolling Stones.  He started his career in 1964 with small groups and made a few singles.  He didn’t become that successful until he and the Jeff Beck Group released two albums.  From that group, Wood went on to join other bands, such as the Faces, and release other singles and albums.

It wasn’t until December 1973, that Wood and Mick Jagger collaborated to produce It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It).  Jagger and Keith Richards helped contribute to Wood’s first solo album.  But on this day, December 19, in 1974, Ron Wood was offered an invitation to join the Rolling Stones, following the departure of Mick Taylor.  At the time, Wood was still a member of the Faces and stuck with them till they announced their break-up.
