The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus was filmed in London featuring the Stones, Eric Clapton, John Legend, and the Who. It wasn’t until 28 years later that it was released.

The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus is a film about an event that was organized by the Rolling Stones.  This event featured concerts on a circus stage including numerous acts and performances.  Mick Jagger originally conceived the idea for this event in order to branch out from conventional performances and concerts.

On this date, December 12, in 1968, this circus concert was filmed.  It was supposed to air soon after filming, but the Rolling Stones refrained because they were displeased with their performance. This concert was Brian Jones’ last performance with The Rolling Stones, as well as the only footage of Black Sabbath’s guitarist, Tony Iommi, performing as a member of Jethro Tull.

It wasn’t until the year 1996 that the film was released on CD and video. In fact, it was thought that some of the footage was lost until 1989, but they ended up finding it in a cellar trashcan.
