Rod Stewart becomes the lead singer Faces after the disbandment of Small Faces

Rod Stewart is a British singer and songwriter known for his distinctive raspy singing voice.  He started out as a solo artist and later became members of other musical groups.  In the fifth decade of his musical career, Stewart had sold over 100 million records across the world—making him one of the best selling artists of all time.  He has had 16 top ten singles in the US, along with many other achievements, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

On this day, October 18th, 1969, Rod Stewart became the lead singer of the English rock and roll band, Faces.  The band was formed after the disbandment of Small Faces by some of the remaining members.  Small Faces was heavily influenced by American rhythm and blues.  The band was founded in 1965 and they’re remembered as one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the sixties.  Faces acted as a revived version of the original Small Faces group and existed from 1969 to 1975.
