Rod Stewart hits his head on stage during a live performance, and the blow knocks him out.

Rod Stewart is one of the best selling artists of all time, with a career spanning 5 decades and record sales reaching over 100 million. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 as a single artist and again as a member of the group “Faces” in 2012.

It was on this day, July 5th, in 1989 that Rod Stewart hit his head on stage during a live performance.  The blow to his head knocked the singer out.

Stewart’s stage persona and distinctive raspy voice gained him prominence in the late 1960s. He adopted the Mod lifestyle with his trademarked spikey hairstyle.  Because of this funky style, fans nicknamed him “Rod the Mod.” Still performing today, Rod Stewart is considered by many to be one of the top artists of all time.
