Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is announced and established.

The best-known and most talented artists, producers, and engineers in the music industry are recognized in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.  The museum archives the history of music and is located in Cleveland, Ohio.

On this day, August 5th, in 1985, the establishment of a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is announced.

The first induction of artists occurred on January 23, 1986.  The first group of inductees included James Brown, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Sam Cooke, and Chuck Berry.
