In a deciding Game 5, Reggie Miller hits a 39 foot shot to send the game to OT against the Nets

Reggie Miller became widely popular for his clutch performances.  With the game on the line in the 4th quarter, opposing teams knew the ball was going to Reggie but they still couldn’t stop him.

It was on this day, May 2nd, 2002, that Reggie Miller hit a 39 foot shot to tie a game against the New Jersey Nets.  The deciding 5th game would go to overtime and the Nets would ultimately prevail.

Miller would finish the game with 31 points in a losing effort.  Losing in the playoffs unfortunately became common for Reggie Miller, as he made the NBA finals once but never won an NBA title.  Reggie was never paired with another hall of fame player, and as a result, we never got to experience how great Reggie could actually be.
