Nolan Ryan had one of the most durable and powerful arms in all of baseball. Ryan has accomplished many feats that pitchers could only dream of, including a record 7 no-hitters. Ryan’s talent and contribution to every team he played on can be seen in the fact that his jersey number was retired for three teams: the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers.
On this day, August 15th, in 1993, Nolan Ryan won his final game as a major league pitcher. The win marked the 324th of his career. Ryan would pitch his final game on September 22 of the same year, when a torn ligament in his arm ended his career prematurely.
Nolan Ryan ended his career with a 3.19 ERA, 5,714 total strikeouts and a win-loss record of 324-292. Ryan was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
