Tony and Emmy Award winner Nell Carter undergoes brain surgery due to an aneurysm.

American singer and actress, Nell Carter, grew up in a family of nine children in Birmingham, Alabama. Overcoming childhood hardships, Nell found success as an actress. Even so, further health issues plagued her life later on.

On this day, July 14th, in 1992, Nell Carter underwent brain surgery after suffering from an aneurysm. All in the same year, Carter suffered two brain aneurysms, divorced her first husband George Krynicki, and married her second husband Roger Larocque.

Nell Carter survived both brain aneurysms.  She lived another 10 years before she passed away from heart disease caused by diabetes. When she passed away at the age of 54 in her Beverly Hills home, Carter was surrounded by her two 13-year-old boys, Joshua and Daniel, and her life partner, Ann Kaser.
