Samuel F.B. Morse received a patent for telegraphy signals (U.S. No. 1,647)

The invention of the telegraph will remain an important part of history for being one of the first forms of communications across distance. Nonetheless what would the telegraph be without the telegraphy signals? It would not be as useful as it was because people would not be able to communicate full thoughts. Samuel Morse was a professor at NYU and during that time he created the Morse Code.

On June 20th 1840, Samuel F.B. Morse received a patent for telegraphy signals. Samuel Morse received this patent three years before Congress took an interest into his work and when they did they granted him $30,000 to make a telegraph line and basically prove to them that it worked.

By around 1914 a message could be send using Morse Code, but the receiving end would not get the printed code on tape, but instead could listen to the code.
