For the first time ever, MLB all-star game hosted outside of the US (in Montreal)

The Major League Baseball all-star is the most prominent of all the all-star games.  While other sports don’t have competition and excitement surrounding the game, the Baseball all-star game each year is a big event.

It was on this day, July 13th, 1982, that the MLB all-star game was played in Montreal.  It was the first time the game was played outside of the US.

Reds shortstop Dave Concepcion earned MVP honors as his National League team won by a score of 4 – 1.  9 years later, the all-star game would once again be played outside of the US, when the Toronto Blue Jays hosted the 1991 midsummer classic.
