Bill Gates and Microsoft launched Microsoft Windows for the first time – it would of course be followed by several improved versions.

It was on this day, November 1st, in 1985 that Bill Gates and Microsoft launched Microsoft Windows for the first time. It would, of course, be followed by several improved versions.

Windows 1.0 was released to the public on November 20th of that same year. It was Microsoft’s first attempt at a multi-tasking graphical user interface on their PC computers. There were four versions of Windows 1.0, and this software was replaced by Windows 2.0 in 1987. Microsoft stopped supporting Windows on December 31, 2001, after sixteen years of use.
