Mickey Mouse Club variety show for children airs for the first time on ABC.

The Micky Mouse Club is an American variety television show produced by Walt Disney.  It was televised by ABC and featured a regular cast of teenage performers that has included many future celebrities across the years including Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.

On this day, October 3, in 1955, The Mickey Mouse Club variety show aired for the first time.  Disney used this show and one other to help finance and promote the construction of the Disneyland theme park.  With time, the show was turned over to Bill Walsh to create and develop the format.  Regular features of the show included a newsreel, a cartoon, a serial, and music, talent and comedy segments.  Mickey Mouse appeared in every show, voiced by creator Walt Disney.
