Mickey Mantle breaks the record with 10 games with switch hit home runs

Switch-hitting in baseball is a characteristic of a player who can bat both left- and right-handed. Mickey Mantle, one of the legendary switch-hitters, considered himself better as a right-handed batter, but he actually hit more home runs left-handed.

On this day, August 12th, in 1964, Mickey Mantle broke the standing record with 10 switch-hit home runs in a game.

Mantle’s peak as a baseball star lasted from 1952 to 1964. Winner of numerous awards, Mantle was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. He was also chosen for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team in 1999.
