The Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are held before magistrates in Chichester with drug charge that they are later found guilty for.

Drug possession has always been considered a serious offense in the eyes of the law. The amount of money and power someone may have at times may not be enough to cover up the obvious. In this case not even their celebrity status could save them since the police department received a tip-off and their mansion was raided in search of illegal substances while a party was being held there.

On May 10th 1967, The Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are held before magistrates in Chichester with drug charge that they are later found guilty for. Turns out that when Keith Richards house was raided they found tablets containing amphetamine sulphate and methylamphetamine hydrochloride and Chinese joss sticks, which they believed were meant to cover up the smell of cannabis.

Even though both Rolling Stone band members were found guilty and were sentenced to do time in jail since it was on their first offence the sentences placed on them were considered “extreme” and were later voided on appeal.
