Michael Jordan announces that he will be returning to the NBA – changing his Jersey to #45

Michael Jordan left the game of basketball to pursue his childhood dream of Baseball.  Chicago fans were devastated as the greatest basketball player ever abruptly stopped playing during the peak of his career.  People thought he would never return to the NBA, however on one March day, Chicagoans were given some fantastic news.

It was on this day, March 18th, 1995, that Michael Jordan returned to the NBA.  Jordan released a press release which simply said “I’m back.”  Jordan would wear Jersey #45 because his #23 jersey was retired in Chicago alongside his first retirement.

And while the Bulls would be defeated in the playoffs that season, the next season Jordan was officially back to his old self.  the Bulls would once again win three consecutive NBA championships, cementing Jordan’s legacy as the best ever.  Jordan would finish with 6 titles, but many still wonder what would have happened if Jordan never took that sabbatical to play Baseball.
