Michael Jordan sets a playoff record with 63 points in a game against Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics

When all-time legends go up against each other in the playoffs, special things can happen.  And when Michael Jordan was played against Larry Bird and one of the greatest Celtics team ever – something amazing did happen.

It was on this day, April 20th, 2968, that Michael Jordan set an NBA playoffs record by scoring 63 points. Jordan did so at the Boston Garden in a double overtime loss to the Celtics.

The game is considered to be one of the greatest NBA games of all-time. The Celtics finished the regular season for a 40 – 1 record, the best home record of all-time.  For Jordan to shred the Celtics, and take the game into double overtime basically by himself, is truly one of the great individual performances that Sports has ever witnessed.
