For the first time since returning from retirement, Michael Jordan wins an NBA title

In his first NBA finals since coming back from retirement, Michael Jordan was determined to get back on top.  And entering Game 6 in Chicago with a 3 – 2 lead, Jordan made it his mission to not let the series go 7 games.

It was on this day, June 16th, 1996, that the Chicago Bulls defeated the Seattle Supersonics in the 1996 NBA finals.  It was the Bulls 4th title in 6 seasons, and Jordan became to first player to win the NBA Finals MVP award 4 times.

The Bulls had led the series 3 – 0, but the Sonics won game 4 and 5 to take the series back to Chicago.  The Bulls would go on to win the NBA title the next two seasons against the Utah Jazz, giving Jordan two separate three-peats in his illustrious career.
