The Miami Dolphins win back to back Super Bowls – destroying the Minnesota Vikings

The Miami Dolphins dominated the NFL in the mid 70’s.  And this domination translated into multiple Super Bowl victories, including a demolishment of the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII.

On this day, January 13th, in 1974, the Miami Dolphins won their second straight Super Bowl when they captured Super Bowl VIII.  It was the second consecutive Super Bowl win for the Miami Dolphins and it was also the Dolphins’ third consecutive Super Bowl appearance.

The Dolphins opened up with a 24 – 0 lead – basically ending the game before the 4th quarter began.  The Vikings got a late touchdown making the final score 24 – 7.  Larry Csonka ran for an NFL record 145 yards and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
