Magic Johnson has the signature highlight of his career when he sinks a sky hook to beat Celtics

When Magic Johnson and the Lakers played Larry Bird and the Celtics in the NBA finals, amazing things happened.  And in Game 4 of those finals, Magic Johnson had what is considered the greatest moment of his career.

It was on this day, June 9th, 1987, that Magic Johnson made a sky hook to defeat the Boston Celtics in game 4 of the NBA finals.   With only 2 seconds left, and the Lakers down 1, Magic made a hook shot over both Kevin McHale and Robert Parish to give Los Angeles a 107 – 106 Victory.

The win gave the Lakers a 3 – 1 lead which the Celtics would never recover from.  The Lakers went on to close out the Celtics in game 6 at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, California.  And while Magic had an amazing career in which he did outstanding things, it was his hook shot which frequently comes to mind when people look back on Magic’s legendary NBA career.
