Les Miserables moves from London to play at the Broadway Theater where it played for 17 years

There must be something special about Les Misérables if it is the longest running musical in the world. The musical played in London for two years and received mixed reviews from critics at first, but the audience loved the show. Tickets were sold out for the event in advance.

On March 12th 1986, the musical Les Misérables moved from London to play at the Broadway Theater where it played for 17 years. While this musical played in Broadway, so did producer Cameron Mackintosh’s other musical, Cats.

If Mackintosh had not produce an English- Version just like director Peter Farago had asked, there would be no Les Misérables in the United States performing for years and years. The musical was so well that it won eight Tony Awards.
