Led Zeppelin releases its debut album in the U.S

Led Zeppelin, originally The New Yard Birds, is one of the world’s first heavy metal bands that focused on forming a rock-infused genre with a blend of reggae, soul, Indian, pop, Latin, and country. This English band has endured rock history as the biggest band of the ‘70s and placed #1 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.

On this day, January 17th, in 1969 Led Zeppelin released their debut album titled Led Zeppelin. The album placed #6 on the UK Album Charts and #10 on America’s Billboard 200. Today, it is recognized as the marker for rock evolution. From the first album a chronology of Zeppelins were released and each four albums were successful.

Led Zeppelin has influenced rock bands across the nation through their unique interpretation of rock and that has sold over 200 million albums.
