The Lakers have had the kind of success in the NBA that other teams only dream of. And their 7th NBA title was one of their most special.

It was on this day, May 16th, 1980, that the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers to earn their 7th NBA title.  During game 5 of the series, NBA MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was listed out of game 6. Magic Johnson stepped in and had the best game of his NBA career.

Magic played center, and grabbed 15 rebounds while scoring 42 points.  Magic would earn MVP of the NBA finals and he did this all in his rookie season. Magic would win 5 NBA titles over one of the most impressive NBA careers of all-time.
