The King Fahd Causeway is officially open, it helps to stimulate a link between Saudi Arabi and Bahrain

Saudi Arabia is known as the largest state in Western Asia, and it takes up the majority of the Arabian Peninsula. Bahrain, on the other hand, is a small island state near the Western shores of the Persian Gulf. The population of Bahrain is just over 1 million people, with over half of that population consisting of non-nationals.

It was on this day, November 25th, in 1986 that the King Fahd Causeway was officially opened. It helped to stimulate a link between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

In July 1981, the minister of Finance in Saudi Arabia and the minister of Industrial Development in Bahrain signed an agreement to build the causeway across the water. According to estimates taken in 2008, the $1.2 billion project has allowed nearly 50,000 passengers to travel between the states every day.
