John Starks of the New York Knicks dunks over the Bulls Horace Grant.

There are a few moments in NBA history which continue to withstand the test of time.  These moments bring excitement and joy to us as we watch them again and again.

It was on this day, May 25th, 1993, that John Starks dunked over Horace Grant in the NBA eastern conference finals.  The play is referred to as “The Dunk” amongst New York sports fans.

In Game 2 of the series, the Knicks had a 3 point lead as they tried to hold off the Bulls from rallying a late stage comeback.  With under a minute left, Starks took the ball up the baseline and slammed home a dunk to give the Knicks a 5 point lead and seal the win.  The Madison Square Garden erupted, and the legend of John Starks was at its highest point ever.
