Boxing legend Joe Frazier KOs Dave Zyglewick to claim the heavyweight boxing title of the world.

During the late 60s and 70s – it was a golden era for boxing.  Several heavyweights rose to prominence and the Sports of boxing captivated the nation.  When Boxing has great heavyweight fighters, its a fun time to be a fan of the sport.

On this day, April 22nd, 1969, Boxing legend Joe Frazier knocked out Dave Zyglewick to claim the heavy weight boxing title of the world.  The bout didn’t last long, as Zyglewicz couldn’t recover from Frazier’s at 1:36 of the first round.

Frazier would go on to fight Muhammad Ali three times in some of the most hyped up and exciting boxing matches of all time.  In 1976, Frazier would retire when he was beaten a second time by the great George Foreman.  Frazier would stage one comeback fight in 1981, but then he retired for good.
