Joltin Joe’s 56 game hitting streak has withstood the test of time.  No player has came close to breaking his record partly due to how much pressure comes with even coming close to it.  Joe D had a sweet swing and all that got to watch him play were treated.

It was on this day, May 3rd, 1936, that Joe DiMaggio made his major league debut against St. Louis.  DiMaggio entered Major League Baseball the only way he knew how, with 3 hits and 3 runs scored.

In his rookie season, DiMaggio had 206 hits and batted .323.  His 202 hits came in only 138 games played, which for a rookie is extremely impressive.  DiMaggio would be a career .325 hitter, and today he is still considered one of the greatest hitters of all time.
