Our Gang comedies ran for many years and Joe Cobb had a recognizable part in the show. His character “fat boy” was very distinct and easy to point out. Joe worked on the show for 7 years and after that he went back on for guest appearances, but never went back to acting.
On May 21st 2002, American child actor Joe Cobb, famous for playing the “fat boy” in “Our Gang” comedies, died of natural causes. He died at the age of 85 in the convalescent where he had been living at for around 4 years.
After working as a child actor he settled down with a job at North American Aviation and he retired in 1981. From then on he just lived in his home in Culver City peacefully.
