Shock jock Howard Stern officially announces his campaign for Governor of New York under the Libertarian party

Howard Stern, known for his radio talk show that caused major controversy in the 90’s also had a couple other occupations. Stern’s expressive and wild style made him appealing to people in books, acting and television, but he ventured a different route outside from the entertainment road at one point.

On March 23rd 1994, Howard Stern officially announced his campaign for Governor of New York under the Libertarian party. He wanted to make changes regarding road work and traffic.  He received the approval of the parties nomination and his name was voted upon to be placed on ballot.

His campaign lasted for a span of five months. Unfortunately he withdrew from the elections due to not wanting to disclose personal information that is a necessary part of the Ethics in Government Act. Without disclosure of his financial information he was not granted injunction and that ended his campaign.
