Based on The Matchmaker written by Michael Stewart the Musical Hello, Dolly! was produced by David Merrick on Broadway. The musical focuses around a woman who is in the practice of matchmaking people through her own methods of coupling people up.

On May 24th 1964, Hello, Dolly! the Broadway musical won a total of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The Musical was believed to be one of the top musicals during that time and with nine Tony Awards being won how could it be anything less than spectacular.

The musical was such a hit that in 2002 the show album was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame. The awards won by this musical go beyond the acting and music, but to the extent of being influential.
