Heath Ledger, the famous Australian actor, has left his stamp on the Hollywood scene with his roles in The Dark Knight as the Joker, Brokeback Mountain as Ennis Del Mar, Monster’s Ball as Sonny Grotowski, and various others.
On this day, January 22nd, in 2008, the naked, overdosed Heath Ledger was found dead on his apartment floor. He was only twenty-eight years old when prescribed sleeping pills and painkillers stole his life. Unknowingly, Ledger took multiple pills at once and the mixing of the drugs had a fatal effect on his body. Although he had a previous substance abuse problem, reports reveal that his overdose was unintentional.
Heath Ledger was survived by his only daughter, four-year-old Matilda Rose. Ledger’s will left his entire estate to his parents and sisters; however, the family handed over all the wealth to Matilda and Michelle Williams (Ledger’s ex-wife).
