Greg Maddux: 3 Straight Cy Young Awards

Since 1956, the MLB has awarded their best pitcher with the Cy Young Award in honor of the legendary pitcher.  It is a great accomplishment for any pitcher to win one Cy Young award in their career, let alone multiple ones.  One such talented pitcher is Greg Maddux, who from 1992 to 1994 accomplished a feat that many pitchers could only dream of.

On this day, October, 24th, in 1994, Gred Maddux became the first pitcher to win 3 straight Cy Young Awards.  Maddux’s 1994 season was especially impressive, as he posted the second lowest ERA in baseball since 1968.

Greg Maddux continued his career until 2008 and established himself as one of the top pitchers of his time. In his 22 year career, Maddux pitched for four teams and amassed eight All-Star appearances, 18 Gold Glove Awards and four National League TSN Pitcher of the Year Awards.
