To improve its search engine, Google launches Google news, allowing users to quickly search over 4,000 news sources

Looking for news articles online can be something of a tedious job because one must go from news site to news site such as CNN, LA Times, NY Times, MSNBC, BBC News etc. Some news sites are focused on one topic more than another therefore they might lack some information that another site might have. To resolve this issue and to make it easier for people to become more informed Google came up with an innovative idea.

On September 23rd 2002, to improve its search engine, Google launched Google news, allowing users to quickly search over 4,000 news sources. Google News created this fast and easy way for users to access the news that they were most interested in reading.

After being on beta test for almost four years, Google News was finally released with its final tested out version. In the English language Google News uses about 4 thousand sites to acquire it’s information and it also receives news in other languages.
