Frank Selvy sets an all-time record when he scores 100 points in a Division 1 college basketball game.

One of the most famous evenings in professional sports history occurred when Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in a NBA basketball game.  Most of us have seen the photograph of Wilt with a piece of paper in his hand that says 100 on it.  However, 8 years earlier, this feat was accomplished by a player during a college basketball game.

It was on this day, February 13th, 1954, that Frank Selvy scored 100 points in a Division 1 college basketball game.  Frank accomplished the feat while playing for Furman University in a game against Newberry College.

Before the game, the Furman coach had told his team that it would be “Frank Selvy Night” and he instructed the team to feed Frank the ball throughout the entire night.  The game was played before three pointers were an option, so Selvy accomplished the feat by making 41 field goals and 18 free throws. Furman won the game in convincing fashion by a score of 149-95.
