The Ford mustang makes its debut

On this day, April 17th, in 1964, the fair-goers at the World Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York were graced with the presence of the first model of the Ford Mustang, the Falcon Platform. The three-speed shift transmission car was offered as a coupe or a convertible and only cost $2,320. The car sold more quickly than Ford expected and within the year, there were over 417,000 drivers roaming the land in brand new Ford Mustangs.
