The Wall Street Journal publishes its first issue

The Wall Street Journal is an international newspaper that is published daily in New York City. The Dow Jones & Company publishes the paper along with the Asian and European editions of the newspaper.

It was on this day, July 8th, in 1889 that The Wall Street Journal published its first issue.

Currently, the Wall Street Journal is the largest newspaper circulating in the United States. As of March 2010, the paper had a circulation of 2.1 million copies with 400,000 online paid subscriptions, according to numbers by the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Its closest competition is London’s Financial Times, which also puts out international editions.
