On this day, September 22nd, in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof debuts on Broadway at Imperial Theatre. It marks history with 3,242 performances and its outstanding choreography. For every invested dollar, the production company profited $1,574 and then some.

The original production of Fiddler on the Roof won nine Tony Awards: Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Direction and Choreography.
