Entertainment Tonight broadcasts its 4,000th episode

Entertainment Tonight, (ET), is the sensationalized television newscast aired around the world via CBS Television. It is the longest running tabloid news production that highlights the latest movies, music, and celebrity gossip, and is claimed to be the most watched program in domestic households.

On this day, January 10th, in 1997, the 4,000th episode of Entertainment Tonight broadcasts on CBS. The ratings topped the charts and ET’s contract was extended for two more seasons. Since the 4,000th episode, ET continues to air as a prevalent sensationalized program of the 21st century.

Due to ET’s invasive practices, celebrities have often boycotted the tabloid. George Clooney and other famed actors, for example, have protested against ET’s celebrity- stalking paparazzi that invade every aspect of celebrities’ personal lives.
