Derek Jeter Hits The First And Only Grand Slam of His Career

Derek Jeter is one of the greatest Yankees of all-time.  He is also a clutch performer as proven by his stellar post-season play.  For his 3,000th career hit – Jeter smashed a home run at Yankee stadium.  However, oddly enough, with the bases loaded, Jeter hasn’t had tremendous success in terms of power.

It was on this day, June 18th, 2005, that Derek Jeter hit the first grand slam of his career.  Jeter hit the slam against the Cubs, ending a streak whereby he had the most at bats of any active player without hitting a grand slam.

7 years later, Jeter has yet to hit a second home run with the bases loaded.  Playing for the high coring Yankees has given him several opportunities, but for some reason, he never has been able to hit his second grand slam.  He does have a very high batting average which is over .335 with the bases juiced, but these opportunities only led to the one slam in a 8 – 1 win against the Cubs.
